Case: The Spar hot air balloon

Campaign SPAR: The biggest shopping basket of the Netherlands

To announce county wide delivery by the SPAR in the Netherlands, we decided to deliver in the craziest way and on the craziest location possible, while the whole of the Netherlands watch along and participated via a livestream. We took off in a hot air balloon filled with various groceries. Will you guess the final location of the landing? Then you will win everything in the basket!

Before the event, the campaign was promoted greatly on online channels. A unique location could easily be claimed, using the map with a lay-over on the campaign’s website. During the livestream, various games were played online, which were hosted by the community mangers of the livestream, to win extra prizes and keep the tension high. Everyone who participated, received a free ice cream, which could be collected in a SPAR-shop close to you (=extra traffic)

The livestream was a success. With it, we reached 328.381 people. The big turn up together with the viewers, occurred organically. There was barely any media budget and the ads had a CPC of €0,24. Additionally, 1.250 people collected their prize in the shop.
